about

This track was written after EP1, but before the forthcoming EP2 (which we are currently working on). It's a track that we love, so we chose to record it and release it as a stand alone. It is our first track as a trimmed down 5 piece.

It is a track of contrasts; on one hand it has some of the heaviest riffs we have done so far. On the other hand, these riffs are sundered by some of our most gentle moments, and some soaring, uplifting louder moments.

It was an intentional move for the track to be so contrary; not only does it mirror the man who is referenced in the title and samples (quite a contrary man, who would write about "dirty realism", would seem misanthropic, but would always seem to be somewhat jovial and comedic in this), but it also mirrors how we all really are as people. We, as people, need others, we need company, but most of the suffering and bad happenings of the world stem from people, and/or our inability to form connections with other people.

We dedicate the beautiful aspects of this track to 4 important people:
To Sam McMaster - our former bass player & life long friend
To Joel Crosland (Helve) - for helping us get off the ground
To Stewart Ramsay (Bad Owl Presents) - for having belief, and giving us our first gig
To Gav McInally (Damnation Festival) - for the plugs, shout outs, and kind words
You folk make us want to be the best we can be!

An extra dedication to the guys in L.Ø.E, who are now part of our music family

Dialogue samples are of various interviews with Charles Bukowski. The song title takes its name from a 1986 time magazine piece about him.
